Sessions 22 and 23

We included even more dialouge into our moviestorm mini film. Wich was basically screams of the police officers and of the old lady being shot. We have also finished the written work, that was allocated to our group. The sound track has also been perfected to fit the film, which we have edited in the application called final cut. We have aslo included some special effects such as gunshot noises and the police car sirens. We also had an idea of getting some of our more reliable freinds to help us in the dialouge, by doing the voice overs. But for them to do this they had to fill out a 'Permission slip' form which had all their details on should we need to contact them again or find ourselves needing proof that other people helped us with the recordings. The below image is of on of these forms:

We also had to fill out a 'Meeting sheet' which showed what we had done, in the process of doing, and our group target for next lesson. We filled these in for every session that we had done as to keep a track of what our group had achived and what was in need of doing. Below is an image of our last meeting sheet:

Session 20 and 21

We had to re-do the dialogue, as it was not according to the script, we also need to get back to the media studio to do this, furthermore we need to re-quire the microphone and re record our voices.
Lesson 21
We recorded our voices in the media studio, with the help of our friend Charlie. below are some images taken by steve when we were doing our voice recordings in the media studio and rendering some of our footage:

Session 18 and 19

This session we have been discussing what we are going to do and what we need to complete. We have also completed the new meeting sheet, in it we put that we need to move the film into final cut and finish garage band, which also needs to be moved to final cut.

Session 16 and 17

Tom has started up the sound track for our end sequence and we now have a sample of the final soundtrack. We also have completely finished the end credits and have completed the end sequence, Furthermore the storyboard and shot lists are finally complete, with everyone up to date and Steve is a happy chappy, so it is just a case of finally putting together the soundtrack and then watching the final film over and looking for any slip ups that might occur whilst we are viewing it. We are also linking the soundtrack timing to the film, where the music pick's up so does the action and when it slows down, so does the action.

Session 14 and 15

Today we started making, the dialogue fit the characters voices. We had recorded our voices the previous day, saying our lines, that the characters would later be saying. Whilst Tom and I were doing this Ash was filling out the storyboards that I had started, by going over them in ball point black pen. She was also revising the script, that Tom and I had improvised, deeming the current version, somewhat.... well we made a new script anyway. To be honest I think that we are pretty much finished the film and just need the soundtrack.

Ash has also done the end credits in photoshop, which is one less thing to do now, I have also included a preview of some of the end credits.

Session 13

We are continuing with some other movie storm things, since Ash has watched our film and decided to make some changes. Like editing the old lady's facial expression so she looks angry when she is brandishing her shotgun. We have also filled out our lesson plan for the coming weeks, so we know what we are supposed to be doing each day of the week. This would help compared to last time where we just made it up on the spot.

We have also modified our character sequences so they flow better and make more sense. Below is an image of how we added some motions to our characters.

Session 12

Finally got the filming and most of the editing done, we continued on through to the free period though, but at least we are ahead of the group. Tom and I have been working non stop from 9.00 to 12.12 so thats quite a lot done in three hours and twelve minuets. We have also completed the story boarding sheets and competed the filming and editing process of our final film. There is only some finishing touches to be done and some extra written work to fill in the gaps, such as voice recording.

But on the whole we have basically finished our film YAY.

Wednesday 30 March 2011

Session 10 and 11

We finally combined the location on movie storm with Tom's characters. As shown below. We achieved this by, saving Tom characters to Steve's flash drive, then imported them to movie storm, via finder. Then they were added to the stock.

Movie storm session 7 and 8

Today we started story boarding and finished our shot lists, which took up most of the lesson time, leaving little room for other activities, such as this blog post and adding detail to our immaculate key frame postit notes, I have also included an image of our story board, complete with fully detailed and accurate drawings of what will (hopefully) happen in our story.
I have also added two alternate ending notes overleaf, as we each had different ideas as to how our story should end.
The left note is of the old lady, going back indoors after blasting all the police.
The right note is of the old lady, smiling into the camera and then, the film ends.

Movie storm session 6

The key frame grid:
This sheet will basically carry our main shots in the movie. with postit notes on top, so that we can replace or change anything that we want to.

We shared the responsibility if making the postit notes. One person would draw them and the other would then go over it in black pen, to make sure that the pencil wouldn't rub off. While
one person was going over the note in pen, the other would then be starting to draw the next key frame. You may remember this process for when we did the 'Hostage' film, as it is the exact same process.

Movie storm session 4 and 5

This session is about making a 'Proposal form' which is stating what our film is going to be called. Then adding a treatment which summaries:
- The key events
- Conveys a clear sense of the preposed story line
- Tells: Who, What, Where and When
- Has been written in the present tense
- With no running dialogue (unless it has been previously recorded)
- Should be roughly 3 paragraphs

The target audience: what is the age rating and who will want to watch your film?

What equipment will be needed:
Headphones.
Microphone.
Splitter cable.
Laptop.

What soft wear you should have installed on your computer:
Final cut.
Movie storm.
Photoshop.
Garageband.

Movie storm session 2 and 3

Roles and planning production, was the subjects of todays lessons. As I have already described in an earlier post. However we did create a planning sheet for each section I.E the character sheet had all the information about the characters and their motives, whereas in the setting sheet there was images of the locations and what was going to happen there. There was also a screen play sheet with the script that the Director (Ash) composed.

Movie storm session 1

Firstly we formed into our groups, ours comprised of: Myself, Ash and Tom. We filled out a sheet about what each individual had to achieve and what we needed to do next lesson. Below Ihave included an image of the sheet that we were issued at the start of this Project.
We were also assigned each individual role in the group to play, For example I was the Setting manager and designer, Ash is the director and Tom is constructing and editing the characters in our film. Below is an image of the sheet we received, to write down our role in the group and how it would benefit the group as a whole.

Session 14 and 15

Ash and myself have been editing our end of sequence film, with the assistance of our teacher Steve Thorne. We have tried to make the editing much quicker and with a fast pace to keep the tension building, however we still needed to do the back ground music (or sound track) to make it seem that it is actually going to be an ending to a film. Moreover we need to accumulate more of a dangerous atmosphere and more hostility towards the hostage, to crate the illusion that the hostage is defiantly going to die before the hero comes to rescue her from certain death.I therefore conclude that a re-shoot is defiantly in need. However we are rapidly running out of time to conclude the project. I believe that with the comments and criticisms (and hopefully more group members) we can improve and move on and further improve on our next media related project.
Steve showing Ash how to import images from different applications such as final cut and imovie.
Steve reminding Ash how to upload
clips onto the computer from the camera.

Session 12 and 13

Ash and I have completed most of the filming based work (to a reasonable standard), I have taken some stills of our group at work or just chilling out and having fun. We however do need to film the last sequence where Lewis (who is apparently called Jacob 0.o which I have no idea where that name came from) saves Ash (the hostage), we also need to start to think of some music or sound effects, which my friends band has kindly agreed to play a song called S and S, that will hopefully be our end sequence credits, but I have no idea what is going on in Ash's mind right ow about the sound track, but she is in control of EVERYTHING so its up to her really.
here are some images of what we did during these sessions enjoy:

Our camera pearched on its tripod ready and set up to start filming.
Our camera from a different angle in the corner of the room whilst Ash dictates what is going on in the script. Myself and Jake having a laugh in one of our short lunch breaks.
Me and Tom posing for the camera. Ash and Jake preparing for the first proper filming session of the week, this shot is the start of the interrogation sequence. Ash and Jake trying to learn their lines whilst reading the scripts over, and over and over and over again with the amount of out takes we had.
These are our camera bags where we left our stuff and had our lunch, we did not film in this room but this is where we organized and prepared our actors
These two are our actors Jake (left ) playing Terrorist 1 and Tom (right) playing Terrorist 2. This is our 'Chill' room where we would have our breaks and leave our stuff when we weren't filming, as you can see we have left our lunch and bags around the room (don't worry Steve we did a health and safety check before we left) :p

L2 GROUP 2: END SEQUENCE - STAGE 1

Session 11

Today we actually got some genuine filming completed WOOT! I asked Lewis if we could borrow him during session 10 and he said yes (he already owed me a favor so why not). so we went out with our filming equipment and shot roughly 11 clips with our college lewis, after we imported it from imovie, I then unchecked all the clips that I did not want such as the previous groups clips as you can see in some of the screen grabs shown below. This screen grab was taken when I wasunchecking all the clips that had been left by the previous groups.

This was taken when the clips were uploaded to imovie
This shot is of the imovie clips being sent to final cut and the file being opened in final cut and primed for editing.

Session 9 and 10

Ash and I, have eventually accomplished a filming session and have finally completed a whole session thats not just blogging and talking about when we are going to next film, we also have taken numerous photos with the stills camera. Moreover we are hoping to get some filming done at lunch today to polish the rest of the film where we can do the interrogation scene. If this task is achieved then we can happily start to edit the sound track which is probably going to take place in the Media Studio

Tuesday 18 January 2011

Session 7 and 8

During this auspicious lesson I contemplated our progress so far, while Ash was starting our brand new and revised story board, after we had received a few words of advice from our teacher Steve, I set about establishing our new characters and with their motives, such as the person running to save the hostage was going to save her as he was in connection with her in some way. the Interrogator was (obviously) interrogating the hostage trying to extract information about a safe. Ash has uploaded the following images about the new shot lists and characters. We also created a mud map about the location 'Media Studio' of which contains the character locations and camera placements.
The new story boards showing theshots, props, actors and the locations.
Our weeks planning sheet, showing the filming and editing days, also Ashes and my free periods, shown in the grey boxes so that we know when we are free to do extra filming or editing.
The mud map of theMedia Studio, showing the camera angles and the locations of the actors, further more the 180 degree line is shown by the dotted line across the middle of the room, showing the boundary of the camera. We also included the actors lines of sight and where they are moving to so we know what actor is going to move to the allocated position.

During the following lesson I will be attending a careers interview, so I wont be in for seldom of the lesson, I can only hope that I don't miss much during the Interview with Susan. I also would appreciate if Ash actually accomplished something during the lesson even if it is something small such as getting a booking form filled out for our next filming session, or start the new script.
